Part-time Payroll Processor

Real Alternatives administers programs to assist pregnant women who are experiencing unexpected pregnancies. We are seeking a pro-life individual with significant experience in handling all aspects of payroll processing in-house, as opposed to having an outside vendor handle any aspect of the payroll processing.

We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, and passionate person to join our team.  This flexible, part-time role is ideal for an experienced professional seeking work-life balance.  Hours can be adjusted to accommodate your schedule according to the biweekly processing periods and the requirements of our operations.

Key Responsibilities

Process bi-weekly payroll for less than 15 employees, including calculating hours, overtime, deductions, taxes, benefits and direct deposits with MIP Accounting software.

Verify and Audit Timesheets for Accuracy

Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll taxes, including wage laws and regulations.  Payroll tax deposits must be accurate with timely remittance.  Prepare and file payroll tax returns under supervision.

Assist with Year-End Processes, Including W-2 Preparation and Similar Tax Filings

This position requires full dedication and complete support of our pro-life mission. A solid grasp of the basic accounting principles underlying payroll is critical.  Years of work experience in small business accounting is preferred; direct work experience with processing payroll (without an external third-party payroll processing company) is essential.  Exceptional attention to detail is required.  The successful candidate possesses a strong analytical mindset and has the capability to go beyond routine tasks.

If desired, this position can lead to involvement in other areas of small business accounting, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger entries, forecasting, database maintenance, and reporting.

Real Alternatives administers programs to assist pregnant women who are experiencing unexpected pregnancies. We are seeking a pro-life individual with significant experience in bookkeeping, with required extensive complete payroll processing history (not merely forwarding information to an outside third-party vendor).

We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, and passionate person to join our Accounting team.  This flexible, part-time role is ideal for an experienced professional seeking work-life balance.  Hours can be adjusted to accommodate your schedule and the requirements of our operations.

Key Responsibilities

Process bi-weekly payroll for less than 15 employees, including calculating hours, overtime, deductions, taxes, benefits and direct deposits with MIP Accounting software.  Ensure accurate payroll tax remittances.  Prepare payroll tax returns.

Manage Accounts Payable Workflow: Review, Code and Enter Vendor Invoices 

Assist with month-end close by preparing and posting monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and the allocation of program expenses according to the time reporting from payroll records.

This position requires full dedication and complete support of our pro-life mission.  A solid grasp of basic accounting concepts is critical.  We are looking for a professional preferably with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar certification; equivalent work experience considered.  Minimum of 3 years of accounting-related experience in a small business setting is ideal.  Exceptional attention to detail and thorough organizational skills are required.  The successful candidate will possess capability to go beyond routine tasks.  We are searching for a strong analytical mindset for interpreting financial data and identifying inefficiencies.
